OK guys, it's become clear that both sides are going to have to do some preliminary fights in typical fight cards (like the weekly cards that used to be run) in order to narrow down the field so we have 16 participants for the first round of the tournament for the August Live Broadcast so that we can do the entire first round in one broadcast. As stik mentioned in the thread where you put your name down if you're interested, those sign-ups will close in the first week of August and these preliminary fights will run from whenever sign-ups close until August 17th. In this thread, put down the day of the week that works best for you (or the specific date if there's only one or two days you'll be available throughout this entire time period) to fight during this tournament, and when the preliminary matchups are drawn we'll make sure to match you with someone else who can fight on that day with you.
Fight cards will be done at 7 PM EST, 8 PM EST, and 9 PM EST on these nights, so if you have a time preferemce out of those three, put that down as well. If none of those times work for you, I know I on the XBox side will try to work with you if you let me know to find a time that works well for you within reason (I say that because I do have my own schedule I need to stick to and between my summer internship wrapping up around that time and me needing to get ready to go back to college, I won't always be available during the day on weekdays).
Also, I'm saying this right now because it's very important: Don't put down that you're available any time unless you really are available to fight at any time necessary! I say this because if you put down that you're available at any time and we give you a day or time that actually doesn't work for you, then it's not our fault. You're the one who said you were available any time so we assumed you meant that. Unless you say you're free to go any time and actually mean it, don't put down that you're available any time.
On that note... I know I in particular have been lenient when it comes to these kinds of cards in terms of waiting for a while or trying to find replacements or rearrange fights. Not this time. When you give me a day and time (or a specific date even) you're giving me a verbal commitment to that day and time to fight. If you can't make it on that day, then either pick a different day or drop out of the tournament. We're going to operate on the "one strike" principal and if you are unable to show up for your fight, then you're eliminated and your opponent moves on. I'll be sending XBL messages to the XBox guys informing them of the day and time of their preliminary fights as well as their opponents and also a reminder at least a day in advance before they're supposed to fight. If you aren't in the card when it's supposed to start, I'm willing to wait up to five extra minutes (because some people might be in the middle of a ranked fight or something on another game, which is understandable) for you to show up. If you aren't in the card by then, then I have no choice but to disqualify you and have your opponent advance. I know it doesn't sound fair, but King, stik and I don't have the time to wait around for people to show up and it's not fair to your opponent if they have to wait for a while just because you aren't there. They might be disappointed in not getting a fight and having their time wasted, but advancing on to the first round and the LB should make up for it. You gave us a verbal commitment for that day and time and if you don't show up, then it's your own fault becuase I'll have sent reminders.
Alright, now that we got all that out of the way, you guys know what to do now. Put down the day (or specific date) and time (7, 8, or 9 PM EST) you're available and it'll help us make sure we organize the preliminaries accordingly so both participants in a fight are available.
